The Centre for Modernist studies sponsored Prof. David Ayres’ keynote speech at the 2nd European Network for Avant-Garde and Modernist Studies Conference, titled “High and Low” and held at the Adam Mickiewicz University (UAM) in Poznan, Poland in 2010.

David Ayers  is a professor in the School of English, University of Kent at Canterbury. His principal interests are in the fields of Modernism, American Literature and Critical Theory. He is the author of Wyndham Lewis and Western Man (Macmillan, 1992), English Literature of the 1920s (Edinburgh University Press, 1999) Modernism: A Short Introduction (Blackwell, 2004) and Literary Theory: A Reintroduction (Blackwell: 2008). David Ayres was the main organiser of the EAM’s third conference in 2012 at the University of Kent.
