2nd June 2015
This one-day event was designed to celebrate 101 years since the publication of Gertrude Stein’s “Tender Buttons”. It was co-organised and hosted by the Centre for Poetry and Poetics at the University of Sheffield.
The event included talks by Natalia Cecire (Sussex) on ”Seeing Clear: Gertrude Stein’s Objectivity”, and Anna Barton (Sheffield) on “Tennyson and on and on: Stein reads the Victorian lyric”. It also involved a monologue on “Teaching Gertrude Stein” by Matthew Goulish of internationally acclaimed theatre company EVERY HOUSE HAS A DOOR, formerly GOAT ISLAND.
The event was free and open to the public.
